Dulux has announced Brave Ground as its Colour of the Year for 2021. The earthy tone is part of the brand’s Colour Futures and seeks to create a sense of connection with nature.
A warm, neutral hue, Brave Ground (colour code CF21) will work well across a variety of applications throughout the home. The colour will serve well as a base for any interior décor scheme as it is easily contrasted and complemented by a range of other colours.
Each year, Dulux colour specialists along with top international design experts to map out the top design trends for the following year. Those insights are then translated into a key colour that reflects the mood of the moment. The Colour of the Year is a hue that is set to have an impact on homes all over the world.
According to Dulux, this year’s colour trend forecast indicated that “we’re all reassessing what really matters in our lives. We’re taking stock and finding a new and positive was forward by having faith in ourselves, working together, building on the past and planning for the future”.
“This warm, natural Colour of the Year provides a strong foundation for embracing change,” says Dulux Colour Expert Palesa Ramaisa. “Brave Ground connects us back to nature and the simple things. It stands on its own as a beautiful, powerful neutral and can be used in a way that allows other colours to shine. Earthy and empowering, it evokes security, growth and potential to help us create environments that fill us with courage.”
“It’s been challenging this year to transform the key global trends into inspiring colour palettes,” explains Heleen van Gent of AkzoNobel, the company that manufactures Dulux. “We’ve seen unprecedented global change, with all of us facing experiences that feel out of kilter with the modern world. At the same time, we’ve rediscovered more positive things: solidarity in communities, strangers’ generosity, and the realisation that together we can do extraordinary things. We’re finding the courage to pick ourselves up and move forward. Our homes provide a sanctuary: a place to restore, repair and recalibrate ourselves on the road to recovery.”
Dulux has created four exciting colour palettes around Brave Ground to show the diversity of this trendy tone.
1. Expressive colours
2. Trust colours
3. Timeless colours
4.Earth colours
